SHEEPADOODLES
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!
WHAT ARE THEY A COMBO OF?

Sheepadoodles are a combo of
OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG
+ POODLE
WHAT SIZES DO THEY COME IN?
Miniature (12-25lbs)
*CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE AT JLDD
Medium (30-45lbs)
Standard (50+lbs)
*CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE AT JLDD

This is possible because of the various sizes poodles come in

Personalities vary GREATLY with the size, so be sure to read below about the personalities connected to e

* NOTE: All breeders seem to label their sizes differently! Be sure to check the expected weight with your breeder!
HOW HYPOALLERGENIC ARE THEY?
It all depends on the way they are bred and their generation. HERE is more info on generations!

It is NOT true that only F1B generations are non shedding, other generations can be just as hypoallergenic.

If you have severe allergies, we recommend more poodle backcross in your puppy.
We also offer a tee shirt test, where we'll actually send you a tee shirt that has been worn by one of our dogs who is a similar generation to what we recommend for you, just so you can have extra peace of mind.
WHAT IS ARE THEIR PERSONALITIES LIKE?
Loyalty, responsibility and sensitivity are the 3 main components we see in our 'sheepies'! Sheepadoodles combine the herding nature of an old english sheepdog and the athleticism and intelligence of the poodle.

Sheepadoodles are:

- Extremely loyal
- Feel a sense of responsibility to their families (due to their herding ancestry)
- Can be very sensitive

BE AWARE though...personalities in sheepadoodles vary G-R-E-A-T-L-Y by their sizes due to size of poodle mixed in to create their sizes!

PERSONALITY BASICS BELOW!
MINIS
-
Less Patient, can be snappy with young kids
-
Best for singles, couples, or retirees with kids over 12
-
Very energetic
-
Often more vocal
MEDIUMS
-
Patient most of the time, better for kids than mini
-
Great for most families who like the 'big dog' personality but are intimidated by the size
-
Moderate activity level
STANDARDS
-
Most patient size
-
Generally easiest sheepadoodle
-
Lower activity level
-
Less vocal
HOW TRAINABLE ARE THEY?
Sheepadoodles are easier to train than most dogs due to their poodle and ole english sheepdog ancestry, but can struggle with a few things from their sheepdog side that you may want to be aware of:

- Very sensitive, which can mean more vocal or that they spook more easily
- Will need extra socialization because of the above
- Can be reactive if startled

Again, very important to pay attention to sizes!

Standard Sheepadoodle - Most Trainable
(best attention span, least energetic -)
Medium Sheepadoodle - Median Trainability
(good attention span, somewhat energetic)
Mini Sheepadoodle - Least Trainable
(shorter attention span, more energetic)

WHAT COLORS DO THEY COME IN?
Our sheepadoodles come in less colors than some of their doodle counterparts due to less coloring on the sheepdog end. Most are black and white, and they often do also fade to grey as they age because of a fading gene on the poodle and/or sheepdog side.

ARE THEY GOOD WITH KIDS?
Sheepadoodles are not our top pick for children that are under the age of 10, unless the child is very understanding of a dog's cues. They are more reactive, and can sometimes 'snap' if they are overwhelmed by too much noise or movement.
(This is not because they are bad dogs, just because of their herding ancestry - they're doing what they were bred to do!)

STANDARD SHEEPADOODLES:
For older kids (12+) a standard sheepadoodle can be a good match! Standards do best with young adults who understand them. Their size can be intimidating to some.

MEDIUM SHEEPADOODLES:
Likely the best temperament for kids in the sheepadoodle realm as they are not quite as large, and still have a good level of playfulness to them.

MINI SHEEPADOODLES:
Generally not the best match for younger kids due to being less patient and tolerant of the activity & noise level that kids can produce along with children sometimes not understanding a dog's boundaries.

"Wow....where to begin? Our experience with the JennaLee Designer Doodles family was amazing from day 1. As first time dog owners, we knew nothing other than our daughter wanted a puppy more than anything. After googling breeders and scouring JLDD's website for hours, and then speaking to their knowledgable staff, we were committed to their process. We were smitten when we saw Mr. Yellow, now "Oakley" from a sheepadoodle litter and he is perfect for us! We loved the 8-week training program he went through as well. We talk all the time about getting a second JennaLee Doodle!"

THE EMERY'S & "COWBOY"

We got Cowboy when he was 8 weeks old. He had been very well socialized by JennaLee and her helpers, and was a happy, well-adjusted little puppy. Since then, he has grown into a handsome "teenager" who loves life. He wants to be with people, and loves to snuggle, even though he's getting too big to sit on a lap. He tolerates loud sounds very well, is not afraid of thunder, and is a very happy boy. Having never purchased a "designer" dog before, we were a little taken aback by the price, but after a week, my husband said, "I've already gotten my money's worth in joy from this little guy."

"We adopted JoJo from JennaLee Designer Doodles and we could not be more thrilled with their puppy matching system. It was a joy to work with Jenna and the JLDD team because they are very knowledgeable about different breeds, the adoption process, and were always available to answer any of our questions! he JLDD team was extremely helpful in coordinating this pick up/ accommodating our travels. When I met JoJo for the first time, I instantly fell in love with his sweet sheepie face, and he immediately jumped in my lap for hugs and kisses."
