There’s an app for that too. Desire the newest in tech? Amazon will deliver that right to your door, sometimes on the same day you order it.

Yet one thing that even Prime won’t instantly deliver is a puppy. But what if you’re looking for someone to find the right dog for you and your family? Can you hire someone to find you a puppy? Yes!

There are so many questions that arise when you’re starting the process of finding a puppy - who should you ask? There are three main venues that can assist you. They include puppy consultants, concierges and matchmakers, all of whom provide a slightly different service.

Hiring a puppy consultant

A consultant will ask questions to best ascertain what your needs are with a new pup. They’ll create the criteria for the puppy's personality based on this input and advise on what dog you should be looking for.

But keep in mind that their services are only as good as the information you provide. While some will help you locate a specific dog when you’re ready to purchase or adopt, others will only walk you through the steps of figuring out what you need. Nothing more.

While a consultant might advise you on what you want to consider when buying or adopting a dog, a concierge can be more proactive. Think of the concierge as a partner in your search, with you driving the conversation. You’ve given them a certain set of parameters. They’re working within those parameters to deliver a dog that they hope will fit your lifestyle.

Working with a puppy matchmaker

A matchmaker does just what they sound like they do. They take into account the needs of the puppy as well as the needs of the owner or family. They’re often the best of both worlds. They’ll consider your work schedule and your exercise habits before selecting your furry friend. Matchmakers look at the time that you have to spend with your new pal as well as whether you’re looking for a canine full of kisses or one that prefers naps.
